Eight everyday habits, taught plainly

Eight simple habits, written in plain words by the practitioners who will teach them when the Wellness Center opens.

The Helping Hands Wellness Center is still being built. It is not yet open. When it opens, this is the plan we will teach.

These eight habits are the heart of how we will care for people. They are not new. Filipino families have practiced them for many years. We write them down in plain words, in the order our practitioners will introduce them.

One. Food. Eat mostly plants and whole foods — rice, beans, vegetables, fruit, the kind of food your kitchen already knows. We will not ask you to buy food you cannot afford. We will not ask you to eat food you do not enjoy.

Two. Movement. Move a little every day, in ways that fit your life. Walking counts. Carrying counts. Working in the garden counts. You do not need a gym.

Three. Water. Drink enough water every day. Sometimes we will use water in your care — warm water, cool water — in the plain ways your grandmother would already know.

Four. Sunlight. Step into the sun a little each day. Filipino sun is generous. We will teach you how to use it without burning.

Five. No harmful habits. Live free from alcohol, tobacco, and other things that hurt the body. We will not shame you. The goal is not the rule. The goal is the freedom.

Six. Fresh air. Open the windows when you can. Step outside when you cannot. Breathe well.

Seven. Rest. Sleep well at night. Rest one full day each week. The body was made to stop. We honor that.

Eight. Trust. Healing comes faster when you trust your practitioner, your family, and the plan you agreed to. If faith is part of your journey, we will respect it. If it is not, the care is the same.

You do not have to share our faith to follow this plan. We will not require it of you. We offer these habits. We do not force them.
