The situation
Liza had been teaching for nine years when she decided to pursue her master's. She had two children at home, an OFW husband, and could only attend on weekends. She had been quoted by another school for a program that ran on Sabbath afternoons and required a full-time leave.
What we did together
HHCWC admitted Liza to the weekend cohort. Sabbath hours were respected. A thesis advisor was named at admission, not at the end of coursework. A partial tuition scholarship from a church sponsor was matched by a working-professional discount.
How it played out
Liza completed coursework over six weekend terms. Thesis defense was scheduled outside Sabbath. Her children attended on-campus events with her on Sundays. She completed the program without taking unpaid leave from her teaching post.
